NAVY SQUEAKS BY HORNETS IN MON. MATCH

Dover, Del. (Oct. 14, 2019) --- Navy scored midway through the first half and made the goal hold up in a 1-0 victory over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium today.

The Midshipmen won for the 10th time in their last 12 contests to improve to 12-2-1, while the Hornets are winless in 15 matches this season.

The contest was scoreless when Navy's Gabby Gordon fired a shot past DSU goal keeper Farbrea McCray off a throw-in from Basley McClaskey in the 23rd minute.

Delaware State was unable to record a shot on goal, but narrowly missed tying the score when a header by Katrina Silva from close range sailed above the net in the final minute.

The Hornets were outshot 13-4 in the match.

McCray recorded five saves for the Hornets in the contest.

Delaware State is off until next Monday (Oct. 21) at home against Penn. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
