T&F: HORNETS BEGIN 2017 AT UMES CAPPY ANDERSON MEET

Dover, Del. (Jan. 6, 2017) --- The Delaware State indoor track and field teams will compete for the first time in 2017 at the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational in Princess Anne, Md., on Saturday.

The Hornets have been idle since opening the 2016-17 season at the UMES Lid-Lifter last month.

Among Delaware State's early season highlights is the pole vault performance of freshman Chloe Franks, who posted a MEAC season-best 10'6” (3.20m) at the UMES Lid-Lifter.

On the men's side, Delaware State's Terry Trenson has the MEAC's sixth-best pole vault performance at 7'0.5” (2.15m), also at the Lid-Lifter.

The Hornet women have the MEAC's third-best time in the distance medley relay this indoor season at 13-minutes-46.86 seconds, while the DSU's men hold the league's fourth-DMR best time this season at 11:07.65.

Delaware State's 4x400-meter relay teams are also off to a strong start this indoor season.

The Hornet men's 4x4 time of 3:20.34 last month is third best in the MEAC, while the DSU women hold down the sixth spot in the conference at 3:56.74.

Among DSU's other top 10 performances in the MEAC this season are Robert Duncan's 10th-best weight throw at 11.21 meters (36'9.5”) and Britney Nguetta's No. 10 spot in the triple jump at 10.51 meters (34'5.75”).
