Phila., Pa. (Nov. 13, 2016) --- Delaware State was a combined six-for-28 from the field in the second and third quarters en route to a 69-44 women's basketball loss at Drexel this afternoon.
The Lady Hornets had just 18 field goals on 57 attempts for the game (31.6%), including five three-pointers on 18 tries (27.8%).
Sarah Curran led three Drexel players in double-figures with a game-high 18 points. Jessica Pellechio and Bailey Greenberg added 10 points each for the Dragons.
Freshman guard Lanayjha Ashe came off the bench to lead Delaware State with 12 points on five-for -seven shooting from the field, including two-of-three on three-point shots. The 5-7 Ashe also led all players with 10 rebounds.
Delaware State sophomore forward NaJai Pollard was held to five points on two-for-10 shooting from the field. Pollard scored a career-high 29 points in the Lady Hornets' season opener against Detroit Mercy on Friday evening. The preseason All-MEAC First Team pick did grab six rebounds and had two blocks in the Drexel contest.
The Lady Hornets won the rebound battle 40-38.
Delaware State is also in the Keystone State for its next game. The Lady Hornets will visit Lehigh for an 11 a.m. contest on Wednesday (Nov. 16) in Bethlehem, Pa.
