Dover, Del. (Aug. 9, 2019) --- Fans of the Delaware State women’s soccer team can get an early look at the 2019 Hornets this weekend. DSU will face Community College of Baltimore County-Essex in a noon exhibition on Sunday (Aug. 11) at Alumni Stadium.

The Hornets return 13 veterans from their 2018 squad, including a 2-4-1 mark in home contests.

The top returning scorer is forward Savannah Ay (so.), who second on the team with four goals, including two game winners, and eight points as a freshman in 2018.

Alexa Gibb (sr.) scored two goals and tied for the team lead with two assists in 12 matches last season.

Alyssa Coustenis (sr.) had a goal and two assists to rank fourth on the Hornets with four points a year ago.

DSU also returns veteran defender  Toni Washington (sr.), along with forwards/midfielder Braxton Clark (sr.), Katrina Silva (sr.), Jasmine Warren (sr.) and Ashley Ventura (jr.).

Franchesska Ramirez (so.) is the Hornets’ most experienced goal keeper, competing in four matches as a freshman in 2018.

The DSU soccer team opens the 2019 regular season on Aug. 23 at St. Peter’s (NJ). The home opener is Aug. 29 against VMI at 4:00 p.m.
