Dover, Del. (Dec. 4, 2018) ---Three Delaware State football seniors are prolonging their careers in pursuit of professional dreams. Brycen Alleyne (RB/KR), along with twins Keyjuan Selby (DB) and Taronn Selby (WR/PR) are among 100 collegians hoping to catch the eye of professional scouts at the 2018 FCS National Bowl this Sunday (Dec. 9) in Daytona Beach, Fla.  The nationally-televised contest (FloSports) is set for 1:30 p.m. at Municipal Stadium.

The 5th annual contest features top Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and Historically Black College and University (HBCU) players. A total of 20 professional football teams, 13 from the NFL and seven Canadian League clubs, are expected to send representatives to the game.

Since the first FCS Bowl in 2014, organizers say dozens of players have used the event as a springboard to professional football opportunities.

The Delaware State trio will compete for the National Team (Blue) against the American Team (White) in Sunday’s FCS Bowl.

Alleyne and the Selby brothers each completed four-year careers at Delaware State last month.

This past season, Alleyne earned All-MEAC Third Team honors after finishing fifth in the league in rushing at 64.6 yards per game (646 total). He also ranked third in the conference in kickoff returns (28.1 ypr) and fourth in all-purpose yards (112.0 ypg) in 2018.

One of the most versatile players in team history. Alleyne wrapped up his Hornet career as No. 3 in team history with 4,093 all-purpose yards. The total includes 1,836 kickoff return yards, second-best in the DSU record book. His 1,712 career rushing yards rank 11th all-time at the school. Alleyne’s 15 career touchdowns include 11 rushing, two receiving and two on kickoff returns.

Keyjuan Selby earned All-MEAC Second Team (2017) and Third Team (2018) honors during his Delaware State career. He ranked among the league leaders in passes defended (interceptions + pass break ups) in each of the last two seasons.

Keyjuan’s career numbers include 165 total tackles, 29 pass break ups and three interceptions.

Taronn Selby led the Hornets in receptions in 2017 and 2018. His career stats include 77 catches for 1,012 yards and five touchdowns.

The Delaware State players are among 10 from MEAC schools competing in the 2018 FCS Bowl.

Alleyne has also been invited to compete in the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl All-Star contest Jan. 14-17 in Salem, Va.
