Phoenix, Md. (Sep. 12, 2018) --- The Delaware State women’s golf team posted an eighth place finish in its season-opening competition this week. The Hornets recorded a combined score of 677 (+101) at the nine-team Towson Invitational at Eagles Nest Country Club in Phoenix, Md.
DSU was seventh after day one with a score of 338. The Hornets had a one-shot difference in the second round at 339.
Princeton claimed the tournament championship with a two-day score of 597 (+21). Host Towson was second at 614 (+38), while Lehigh (631; +55), St. Francis-Pa. (651; +75) and Long Island (660; +84) rounded out the top five.
Individually, Ana Candela Ferreyra Heit was Delaware State’s top finisher, tying for 12th out of 47 competitors with a two-day score of 156 (+12). She was tied for seventh after the opening round with a score of 77.
DSU’s Kanyakorn Chothirunpanit also finished in the top 30 with a score 167 in the two rounds.
