Landover, MD. (Feb. 19) --- The Delaware State Hornets Track & Field program competed in the MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championship over the weekend. They finished 12th with a team score of eight points, a one-point improvement from last year.

Adam Funkhouser had the highlight of the weekend for DSU. Funkhouser won a silver medal in the Pole Vault, marking a huge improvement from his eighth-place finish from a year ago. The sophomore out of Milford, Del., reached a height of 4.27 meters, a new career high. His silver medal performance scored seven of the eight total points for the Hornets.

The quartet of Kiyair Lambert, Kendall Leach, Gerald Amobi, and Kavante Dawson scored the other point for DSU. They finished with a time of 3-minutes-20.60 seconds in the 4 x 400 relay for an eighth-place finish. Their performance qualified them for the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) championships.

Up next for the Hornets several members of the program (Edwin Rosembert, Kiyair Lambert, and the 4 X 400 relay team) qualified for the IC4A championships, also known as the “super conference” meet.

The IC4A Championships are from March 2-4, at Boston University.
