Dover, Del. (Nov. 11, 2018) --- Delaware State won the first set before dropping the next three in a MEAC volleyball loss to Coppin State in DSU’s 2018 finale Memoria Hall this afternoon.  The 3-1 loss was the Hornets’ 13th straight to end the season with a 2-17 overall record and 0-10 mark in the MEAC.

Delaware State won the first set 25-23. The Eagles evened the match with a 25-19 victory in the second set. Coppin won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-20 to earn the match victory.

Three Coppin State players recorded double figures in kills, led by Miajavon Coleman with 15. Jordan Celestine added 14 kills and Asia Stennis 13 for the Eagles. CSU’s Brianna Lang had a match-high 44 assists.

Mayah Ngundam (so.) led Delaware State with 11 kills, while Kiera Holtzclaw (so.) recorded eight.  Milexa Cardona posted a team-high 30 assists.

Coppin State recorded a .299 hitting percentage in the match, collecting 61 kills and 23 errors on 127 attacks. DSU had 39 kills and 22 errors on 107 attempts for a .159 percentage.

The Hornets recorded 40 digs to 38 for the Eagles.

The match also marked the final collegiate contest for Delaware State seniors Sydney Armbrister and Leimaluhia Taula.
