Princess Anne, Md. (Oct. 28, 2018) --- The Delaware State volleyball team couldn’t overcome a two set deficit at Maryland-Eastern Shore, falling 3-1 to the Hawks in a MEAC North contest this afternoon.

MDES won the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-17, before the Hornets stayed alive in the match with a 25-18 victory in set three. The Hawks bounced back to take set four 25-17.

Lucia Babic had 13 kills and Rachel Kayongo added 10 to lead the Hawks. Ivana Blazevic led all players with 29 assists and recorded six of Maryland-Eastern Shore’s 16 services aces in the match.

Mayah Ngundam and Caroline Rakoski led Delaware State with nine kills each. Milexa Cardona topped the Hornets with 27 assists, while Nia Scott tied for match-high honors with 11 digs.

MDES posted a .269 attack percentage in the match, recording 43 kills and 15 errors on 104 attacks. Delaware State tallied 36 kills and 26 errors on 111 attempts for a .090 hitting percentage.

The Hawks held a slight edge in digs 43-42.

MDES improved to 7-14 overall and 4-2 in the MEAC, while the Hornets fell to 2-23 and 0-6.

Delaware State remains on the road for its next two matches, beginning with a visit to Howard on Friday (Nov. 2).
