Dover, Del. (Sep. 4, 2018) --- The Delaware State volleyball team will play in front of its home fans for the first time this season on Wednesday. The Hornets will take on the American University Eagles in a 6 p.m. match in Memorial Hall.

DSU is winless in seven matches, while the Eagles are 3-4 this season.

In their most recent action, the Hornets came up empty in four contests at the St. Francis Brooklyn Terrier Invitational last weekend. Delaware State picked up its first set win of the season (vs. NJIT) and senior Sydney Armbrister was named to the all-tournament team.

American has dropped its last two matches, including a 3-1 loss to Saint Mary’s in its most recent outing on Sep. 1.

Freshman Devin Ruble is tops on the Hornets with 43 kills (.064 hitting pct.), while Armbrister is second on the team with 39.

Another freshman, Milexa Cardona, is Delaware State’s leader with 115 assists and also has a team-high nine service aces. Cardona is ninth in the MEAC in assists (5.23 per set) and eighth in aces (0.41 p/s).

Senior Mia Taula is tops on the Hornets and fifth in the MEAC in digs at 4.09 per set (90 total).   

Armbrister is also DSU’s leader with 12 blocks (two solo).
