Baltimore, Md. (Apr. 18, 2018) --- Delaware State won for the fifth time in its last six matches, posting a 4-0 victory over Coppin State in a MEAC North contest today.

The Hornets won the three completed singles matches and earned the doubles point to post their third shutout of the season.

The DSU victory was highlighted by dominant performances from Elvira Galieva and Anastasia Belkina. Galieva improved to 7-0 in singles this season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Coppin State’s Shariah Dunwell in the No. 5 contest, while Belkina was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Precious Udofe in the No. 3 match.

Delaware State’s Cassandra Boltman also posted a straight set win, topping Tinashe Gwaze 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2.

DSU’s Belkina and Alina Polyvana teamed up for a 6-1 victory in the lone doubles match to be completed.

Polyvana was leading 6-2, 5-1 in the No. 4 singles contest when the match was called after the Hornets sealed the team win.

The Hornets are 6-4 overall and 2-4 in the MEAC this season.
