Dover, Del. (Apr. 22, 2019)---The Delaware State women’s tennis team, making its first MEAC Tournament appearance  since 2016, will take on Florida A&M in an opening round match this Thurs. (Apr. 25) at 11:00 a.m. in Norfolk, Va.

The Hornets are the No. 3 North seed, while the Rattlers are the No. 2 South seed in the eight-team single elimination tournament.

The winner of the Delaware State / Florida A&M quarterfinal will face the victor of the Norfolk State (No. 1 North) / Bethune-Cookman (No. 4 South) match in the semifinals on Fri. (Apr. 26) at 9:00 a.m.

The championship match is set for Sat. (Apr. 27) at 9:00 a.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.  

The Hornets are seeking their first MEAC Tournament win since a 4-2 quarterfinal victory over Florida A&M in 2012. Delaware State claimed won its first-ever tournament victory in 2011 (4-1 vs. Bethune-Cookman in quarterfinals). )  

A new MEAC women’s champion will be crowned this year. 2018 champ Morgan State was 5-0 in regular season conference play, but is ineligible for this year’s tournament.
