Lawrenceville, N.J. (Apr. 6, 2018) ---  The Delaware State women’s tennis team won five of six singles matches and took two of three doubles contests in a 6-1 victory over Rider today.

Each of the Hornets’ singles wins was in straight sets.

Elvira Galieva and Aayushi Chouhan posted the most impressive victories, each winning 12 of 14 games.


Galieva was 6-2, 6-0 winner over Caitlin Gardner in the No. 5 match, while Chouhan defeated Montana Morris 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6


DSU’s Sofia Rachi, Anastasia Belkina and Alina Polyvana also needed just two sets to win singles matches for the Hornets.

Rachi took the No. 1 contest 6-0, 7-5 over Vanessa Canda. Belkina defeated Danielle Scrudato 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3, while Polyvana outplayed Sydney Jeffrey 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 4 match.


Rachi and Cassandra Boltman teamed up for a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Polyvana and Belkina were 6-3 winners in the No. 2 contest.
