Norfolk, Va. (May 8, 2018) --- Delaware State catcher Desiree Moreno (so.; Carson, Cal.) and second baseman Jasmine Melgoza (so.; Huntington Beach, Cal.) have been named to the 2018 All-MEAC First Team, while Hornet outfielder Khaliyah Flournory (sr.; Syracuse, N.Y.) was a second team selection and shortstop Alyssa Diaz (fr.; Fontana, Cal.) a third team pick in voting by league head coaches and sports information representatives announced today.

Moreno, a 2017 All-MEAC Second Team selection, is tops on the Hornets in batting (.359) and home runs (9), and hits (51), and second on the team in runs batted in (28). She is fourth in the MEAC in total bases (86), tied for fourth in homers and tied for 11th in hitting entering this week’s conference championship tournament.

A 2018 Preseason All-MEAC pick, Moreno was selected as the league's Player-of-the-Week on Mar. 19.

Also a 2018 Preseason All-MEAC selection, Melgoza is tied for the Hornets in hits (35) and is fourth on the team with 19 runs scored. She has also commited just 10 errors in 204 chances for a .953 fielding percentage this season.   

Flournory is third on the Hornets in hitting (.303) and tops on the team with eight stolen bases on eight attempts this season. She is also the DSU’s leader with 12 doubles and 32 runs scored, and second on the club with 44 hits.   

The MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week on Mar. 19, Diaz is batting .252 with one home run, five doubles, a triple and 19 RBI as a true freshman this season.
