Dover, Del. (Sep. 29, 2019) --- Alyssa Francese had two goals and Fanny Gotesson tallied a goal and assist to lead Stony Brook to a 5-0 women’s soccer victory over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium today. The Seawolves won for the third time in four matches to improve to 7-4 this season, while the Hornets fell to 0-11.
Francese opened the scoring with a goal from close range in the 27th minute. Gotesson and Chelsie DePonte were credited with assists on the score.
Arianna Barbieri (37th minute) and Rachel Florenz (45h minute) added first period goals to give the Seawolves a 3-0 lead at the half.
Gotesson put Stony Brook ahead 4-0 early in the second period (47th minute) and Francese punched in her second goal of the game in the 67th minute to close out the scoring.
The Hornets were outshot 26-1 in the contest.
DSU starting goal keeper Fabrea McCray (fr.) recorded a career-best 11 saves in the match.
