Dover, Del. (Sep. 23, 2019) --- The Delaware State women’s soccer team is home for the first time in more than two weeks to battle Loyola (Md.) on Tues. (Sep. 24) at Alumni Stadium. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
The Hornets (0-9-0) have been idle since wrapping up a string of three road contests with a 1-0 loss to Canisius on Sep. 18. The Griffs scored the lone goal of the match in the 56th minute.
Loyola has won two of its last three contests to stand at 3-5-0 this season. The Greyhounds posted a 1-0 victory over Lehigh in their most recent outing on Sep. 21.
Delaware State and Loyola are meeting for the third straight season, and fourth time overall.
Loyola won the last encounter 5-1 in Baltimore, Md., last season. The Greyhounds also won the last time the teams met in Delaware, defeating the Hornets 2-0 at DE Turf in Frederica in 2017.
DSU and Loyola have each faced VMI and Marist this season.
The Hornets fell to the visiting Keydets 4-0 on Aug. 29, while the Greyhounds lost at home to VMI 2-0 on Sep. 13.
Delaware State lost to Marist 5-0 at home on Sep. 1. Loyola dropped a 2-1 contest to the Red Foxes on the road on Sep. 8.
The Hornets will also play its next two matches at home, hosting Stony Brook on Sunday (Sep. 29) at 1:00 p.m. and Iona on Oct. 2 at 3 o’clock.
