Lawrenceville, N.J. (Sep. 12, 2019) --- Sofia Soares came off the bench to score three goals and assist on another to lead Rider to a 6-1 victory over visiting Delaware State this evening.

The Broncs won for the first time in four matches to improve to 3-2-1 this season, while the Hornets dropped to 0-7.

Rider’s Makenzie Rodrigues scored two goals, Niamh Cashin contributed two assists to the win.

Rodrigues opened the scoring with a goal in the 26th minute. Soares then tallied three consecutive scores in a 14-minute span of the first period to give the Broncs a 4-0.

Delaware State avoided a shutout when Mary O’Conner scored the Hornets’ lone goal on a penalty kick in the 64th minute.

The Hornets return to action at Hartford on Sun. (Sp. 15). The match is scheduled for 1:00 pm in W. Hartford, Conn.
