Dover, Del. (Sep. 5, 2019) --- The Delaware State women’s soccer team will play the third of four straight home matches this Friday against Lafayette. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
The Hornets (0-4) are coming off a 5-0 loss to Marist last Sunday. DSU trailed 2-0 at the half and was unable to recover.
Delaware State tallied its lone goal of the season in the opener at St. Peter’s, but has failed to score in the last three outings.
Lafayette (1-2-1) played to a 0-0 double-overtime tie against Hartford last Sunday. After opening the season with a 1-0 victory over St. Francis (N.Y.), the Leopards fell to Delaware (0-2) and Seton Hall (0-1) before the scoreless tie with Hartford.
The Hornets and Leopards are meeting for the fifth straight year. Lafayette won each of the previous contests, including a 5-1 victory in Easton, Pa., in 2018.
The last time the teams met at Alumni Stadium, the Leopards posted a 3-1 victory in 2017.
Delaware State will wrap up the current homestand on Sunday against East Tennessee State. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
