The Hornets led 4-1 before CCBC Essex scored its lone goal on a free kick in the second period.

“I was pleased with our energy level throughout the match, especially in the second half,” said DSU head coach Kourtney Rhoades. “It was a good sign that our play making and execution improved throughout the contest. A good step for us, but still plenty of work to do before the start of the season.”

Delaware State will play its final 2019 season tune up against Mount St. Mary’s on Fri. (Aug. 16) at Alumni Stadium (6:00 pm).

The Hornets will begin the upcoming season on Aug. 23 at St. Peter’s (N.J.).  The home opener is Aug. 29 against VMI. The contest is set for 4:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
