Emmitsburg, Md. (Sep. 25, 2017) --- Delaware State and Mount St. Mary’s battled for 110 minutes, but neither could score in a women’s soccer contest on Sunday.

The Hornets and Mount competed for 90 minutes in regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods.

The Hornets were outshot 22-8 in the match, but DSU’s defense and goal keeper Leslie Fazio kept the Mount off the board.

Fazio was credited with eight saves, three in the first and second periods, and one in each overtime session.      

Delaware State recorded nine total shots, including attempts by Samantha Gibbs and Samantha Wanzor that were saved by Mount St. Mary goal keeper Maggie Barron.

Mount St. Mary’s had six corner kicks to five for Delaware State.

The Hornets now stand at 0-9-1, while the Mount is 3-6-1 this season.

Delaware State will return to action on Oct. 2 at Penn. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Philadelphia.

DSU’s next home match is Oct. 6 against Hampton (7 p.m.).
