Frederica, Del. (Sep. 14, 2017) --- George Washington scored three goals in the first 11-plus minutes en route to a 4-1 victory over Delaware State in a women’s soccer contest at DE Turf Thursday evening.

The Colonials struck early in the contest (3:03) when Charley Prevost fired a shot from 20 yards away past DSU goal keeper Leslie Fazio off a feed from Safia Pavon.

A little more than a minute later (4:04), GW scored again. Dani Frese found the net from close range on a pass from Brittany Cooper following a corner kick to give the Colonials a 2-0 lead.

George Washington (4-2-1) opened up a three-goal lead when Cooper scored from 25 yards away in the 12th minute (11:08). Alexis Williams was credited with the assist on the score.

The Colonials scored early in the second period (51:26) on a shot by Natalie Silberman to take a 4-0 lead.

Delaware State avoided a shutout when freshman Daijah Norris scored her first collegiate goal late in the match. Norris fired a shot from 45 yards away that bounced past George Washington goal keeper Kenzie Kilgallen in the 87th minute (86:19).

The Hornets (0-8) return to action on Sunday (Sep. 17) at Temple. The match begins at 1 p.m. in Phila., Pa. DSU will also visit Mount St. Mary’s (Sep. 24) and Penn (Oct. 2) before returning home to face Hampton on Oct. 6 at Alumni Stadium (7 p.m.).
