Dover, Del. (Oct. 19, 2016) --- Delaware State and NJIT battled for 110 minutes, including two 10-minute overtimes,  but neither team could score at Alumni Stadium Wednesday evening.

The tie, Delaware State’s first of the season, leaves the Hornets with a 4-9-1 record, while NJIT recorded its third tie of the year (6-8-3).

The contest also marked DSU’s first scoreless tie since Oct. 28, 2015 against Howard. The Hornets had three ties during the 2015 campaign.

NJIT had eight total shots, five on goal, while Delaware State had five shots, each on goal.

Delaware State goalie Michele Lammers had five saves to record her fourth shutout of the season and ninth in her career.

The Hornets will wrap up their 2016 season, the first under head coach Kourtney Rhoades, at home on Friday against South Carolina State. The Senior Night contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
