DOVER, Del. - The Delaware State University women's soccer team was held to just four shots Sunday afternoon, including just one on goal, as they were downed, 2-0, by the University of Delaware in the renewal of the Route 1 Rivalry at Alumni Stadium.
The Blue Hens (2-3-0) were able to get off 21 shots, including 10 on goal, and led the Hornets (0-4-0) in the category, 11-0, in the first period.
DSU sophomore Katelyn Koslosky (East Islip, N.Y.) collected eight saves in the game, with six coming in the first half.
UD got on board in the 39th minute with Anna Lenczyk's first goal of the season. Lenczyk held the ball in the middle of the field about 20 yards out and did a give and go with Tania Domingos on her right, getting the ball back about five yards from the goal.
Coming out for the second half, the Blue Hens took the 2-0 advantage early, taking another Lenczyk goal in the 49th minute. Madeline Parker found Lenczyk about 15 yards from the goal, where she put the ball into the left side of the net.
The Hornets marked their lone shot on goal in the 61st minute from sophomore Gabi Pinto (Bear, Del.). UD's Jessica Levy came up with the save.
The Hornets head to New England next weekend where they take on Bryant Friday at 3 p.m. and Holy Cross Sunday at 1 p.m.
