Newport News, Va. (April 20-21) --- The Lady Hornets participated in the New Captains Classic over the weekend.

Tikki Wise finished second in the 200 meters with a time of (25.42 seconds), Tyra Coach (26.90 seconds), and Cydney Davis (26.96 seconds) rounded out the top ten.

Cydney Davis finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 1-minute-.5 seconds (1:00.05) Leah White placed in fifth (1:00.79) and Janae Pitt finished in eighth (1:01.21). Pitt also finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.56 seconds).

Mone’t Peterson grabbed second place in the 800 meters (2:19.22) and Sylvia Okafor finished in seventh (2:26.62).

Katarzyna finished first in the 3000 Meters (10:40.45). Rosikon’s time qualifies her for the MEAC Championships.

Jashella Jenkins, Faleesha Dowe, Loren Harris, and Tikki Wise took second place in the 4 x 100 relay with a season’s best time of 47.39 seconds. Their performance qualified the 4 x 100 relay team for the ICAC/ECAC Championships.

Delaware State had two relay teams for the 4 x 400 relay. DSU’s “A” team (Cydney Davis,  Janae Pitt, Mone’t Peterson, and Tikki Wise) finished in second place with a time of 4:01.19. Their “B” team finished third with a time of 4:11.03 seconds.

Tiajah Robinson placed in first place with a mark of 1.52 meters in the High Jump.

Amber Conyers finished third in the high jump (5.31 meters) and Loren Harris finished fourth (5.29 meters).

Conyers finished second in the triple jump (11.29 meters), while Harris took fourth again (10.62 meters). Jashella Jenkins placed fifth (10.50 meters).

Victoria Wilson took fifth in the shot put (11.52 meters) and Jolena Smith finished in seventh (10.13 meters).

Victoria Wilson (31.74 meters) and Jolena Smith (27.18 meters) again finished fifth and seventh respectively in the hammer throw.

Wilson again finished in fifth, this time in the Javelin (28.28 meters) Smith finished in eighth place (23.83 meters).
