Baltimore, Md. (Apr. 22, 2017) --- The Hornets score 43 points in the Morgan State Legacy Track & Field Meet. Their performance gave them a seventh-place finish in overall team score.
The team received most of their points from several impressive performances in the Heptathlon event. Faleesha Dowe finished in second place. Dowe scored 4126 points in the event. Precious Igwebuikecompeted in her first collegiate Heptathlon and finished in third place. Igwebuike totaled 4069 points. Britney Nguetta also performed in her first Heptathlon. She placed in sixth with 3817 points.
The trio of Dowe, Igwebuike, and Nguetta scored 17 of 43 total points for DSU, and all of them qualified for the MEAC Championships.
Chloe Franks finished third in the Pole Vault. Franks mark of 2.41 meters, gave DSU seven additional points.
Omealla Gordon (24.67 seconds) and Loren Harris (25.79 seconds) finished in fifth and ninth place respectively in the 200 meters. Their performances gave the Hornets nine points.
Gordon’s time is a new career high, and it qualifies her for the MEAC Championships.
The Hornets next meet starts on April 27. They will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete in the Penn Relays.
