Newark, Del. (Apr. 8,2017) – The Hornets competed in the Delaware Open over the weekend. They racked up multiple top ten finishes.
Jennifer Goodman finished ninth in the 100 meters, with a recorded time of 12.63 seconds. Ashley Wilson finished just outside of the top ten, clocking in at 12.72 for an 11th place finish.
Trameceia Sample placed ninth in the 200 meters (26.03 seconds). Goodman finished in 11th place (26.07).
Cydney Franks placed seventh in the 400 meters (59.56). While Tiffany Woods finished in ninth (1-minute-0.35 seconds).
Omella Gordon placed eight in the 800 meters (2:24.96).
Faleesha Dowe finished second overall in the 400 Hurdles (1:06.77), Loren Harris finished in sixth place (1:09.87) and Lauren Woods rounded out the top ten (1:10.80).
Delaware State’s relay “B” team (Trameceia Sample, Omealla Gordon, and Faleesha Dowe) finished in second place in the 4x100 relay, with a recorded time of 48.84 seconds. The “A” team (Nelana James, Precious Igwebuike, Amber Conyers, and Loren Harris) finished fourth, posting a time of 50.56 seconds.
Igwebuike finished seventh in the high jump, posting a mark of 1.55 meters. She now ranks as the ninth best high jumper in the MEAC.
Loren Harris finished third in the Long Jump (5.38 meters). Harris has the 8th best jump in the MEAC so far. She just missed qualifying for the MEAC Championships by .18 meters. Faleesha Dowe was not far behind Harris, she finished in fifth place (5.27m). Amber Conyers (4.95m) and Precious Igwebuike (4.93m) placed just outside of the top ten, finishing 11th and 12th place respectively.
The Hornets will compete next weekend, at the Towson University Invitational in Baltimore, Md.
