Williamsburg, VA (Apr. 1, 2017) – The Lady Hornets relay team shined during their season opener.  The team composed of Faleesha Dowe, Omealla Gordon, Leah White and Cydney Franks outpaced the entire field (including notable rivals University of Delaware and Hampton University) on their way to a first-place finish.

The group finished the race in 3-minutes-47.63 seconds, not only did they qualify for the MEAC championships, but they also have the opportunity to participate in the IC4C/ECAC (also known as the “super conferences”) championships.

The relay team also finished fifth in the 4x200 relays, clocking in at 1:40.09.

Omella Gordon finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.07. Gordon’s time qualified her for the MEAC championships.

Chloe Franks also qualified for the MEAC tournament for the Pole Vault. She recorded a mark of 3.20 meters, during her first vault of the season.

Delaware State’s next meet will be at the Don Webster Invitational in Baltimore, Md. on April 7th
