Baltimore, Md. (Feb. 9) --- The Lady Hornets finish fourth with a total score of 101 points at the UMES Cappy Invitational this weekend. DSU garners four top ten finishes during the invitational.

Freshman Lakendra Harpe places first in the 200 meters with a career best time of 26.08 seconds.

Sylvia Okafor finishes in first in the 500 meters with a time of 1-minute-21.39 seconds. The time was also a career best for the Junior.

Tiajah Robinson places first in the high jump with a distance of 1.59 meters, just .01 meters away from tying her career best mark.

Precious Igwebuike had a total of 3191 points for a first-place finish in the Pentathlon, a career best in points for Igwebuike.

There were a bevy of top ten finishes for the Lady Hornets as well.

Nissa Martinez-Smith (9.08) and Jashella Jenkins (9.45) places second and fifth respectively in the 60 meter hurdles.

T’Keyah Macklin (27.39) and Ashley Wilson (27.71) finishes in eighth and tenth place in the 200 meters.

Kayla Harris (1:02.89) Jada Jackson (1:04.30) places fourth and fifth in the 400 meters.

The “A” team (Cydney Davis, Lakendra Harpe, Nissa Martinez-Smith and Donyae Shelton) finishes third in the 4 x 400 relay at 4:13.59. The “B” team (Precious Igwebuike, Kayla Harris, T’Keyah Macklin and Jashella Jenkins) places in fifth with a time of 4:31.38.

Kayla Harris places seventh in the Long Jump (4.32 meters).

Jolena Smith finishes third in the shot put (9.35 m) also third in the weight throw (12.22 m).

Ahnrea McCaskill places third in the Pentathlon with 2857 points.
