Newport News, Va. (Jan. 25-26) The Lady Hornets finishes in first place at the Captains Invitational & Combined Events with a team score of a 199 points, outclassing former MEAC rival Hampton University.

T’Keyah Macklin finishes first among qualified runners in the 60 meters with a time of 8.25 seconds. Kayla Harris was right behind Macklin, her time of 8.41 led to a second-place finish. 

Lakendra Harpe finishes in first place also, crossing the finish line in 26.22 seconds during the 200 meters. Kayla Harris places in fourth at 27.43 seconds. T’Keyah Macklin (27.56 seconds) and Sierra Cruz (28.42 seconds) finishes in sixth and tenth place respectively.

Sylvia Okafor places in first with a time of 1-minute-42.79 seconds (1:42.79) in the 600 meters. Sierra Cruz finishes in third at 1:50.23.

Katarzyna Roskion finishes in second place at the 3000 meters with a time of 11:46.56 and finishes fourth in the 5000 meters at 20:19.26.

The quartet of Lakendra Harpe, Nissa Martinez-Smith, T’Keyah Macklin, and Sierra Cruz finishes second (first among DI teams) in the 4 x 200 relay at 1:49.00.

The 4 x 400 relay team of Lakendra Harpe, Donyae Shelton, Ahnrea McCaskill and Sierra Cruz places first at 4:17.16.

Ahnrea McCaskill places first in the high jump with a career best mark of 1.56 meters. Tiajah Robinson is second at 1.51 meters.

Amber Conyers finishes second in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.13 meters (First amongst DI teams), Conyers places third in the Triple Jump at 10.79 meters (second amongst DI schools).

Jolena Smith is third in the weight throw (first amongst DI schools) with a mark of 10.69 meters.

Precious Igwebuike, Anhrea McCaskill and Donyae Shelton places first, second and third respectively among DI athletes in the Pentathlon.

Up next for the Lady Hornets is the Wildcat Invite in New York on February 2.
