Landover, Md. (February 16th 2017) --- Day one of the MEAC Championships is in the books. Delaware State competed in five events on the day.

Loren Harris made a bit of Hornet’s history today. Harris used her season and personal best long jump of 5.56 meters, to became the first Lady Hornet since 2012 to qualify for the long jump finals. She took 5th place with her performance, giving the Lady Hornets all four points they earned for the day.

After the first day of competition, the Lady Hornets sit in fifth place out of 12 teams for team score.

On the men’s side, Trenson Terry took on the first three events of the heptathlon running in the 60-meter dash, long jump and high jump. While Kendall Leach ran in the 200 meter.

Day two of the MEAC Championships begins tomorrow at 9 a.m., as finals will be held in the high jump, weight throw, 800 and distance medley.
