Columbia, S.C. (Mar. 8, 2019) --- Led by dominant performances from its Western riders, South Carolina rode past Delaware State 25-4 in as women’s equestrian contest today.

The Gamecocks, ranked sixth in the latest NCEA Farnam Top 10 poll, posted an 8-1 victory in the Western competition and were 7-3 winners in the Hunter Seat rides.

South Carolina also swept the four Most Outstanding Performer awards.

Delaware State’s performance was highlighted by a 3-2 victory in Fences. Gabrielle Fournier, riding on “Joe,” was a winner with a score of 82.0, tops among the non-exhibition Fences competitors.

Erin Gordon rode “Mack” to victory with a score of 80.0 to earn a point, while Sydney Wicklund, with a score of 76.0 on “Kenny,” also posted a Fences win.

Grace Wilson posted the lone Western point for the Hornets with a Reining score of 71.5 aboard “Paddy.”
