Dover, Del. (Jan. 30, 2019) ---The nationally-ranked Delaware State equestrian team will make two stops in California this week to begin the second half of its 2018-19 schedule. The Hornets, ranked ninth in the latest Farnam National Collegiate Equestrian Association Top 10 poll, will saddle-up against The University of California Davis in the first-ever competition for the Aggies on Thursday (Jan. 31).
Delaware State will continue the trip with two competitions at Fresno State on Saturday (Feb. 2). The Hornets will battle No. 1 ranked Auburn before taking on No. 10 Fresno State later on Saturday.
The events will be the first for the Hornets since an 8-6 loss to No. 2 Southern Methodist on Nov. 16.
The fall 2018 portion of DSU’s season was highlighted by the top national ranking in team history at No. 8 in the October poll.
Also in the fall, Hornet soph. Gabrielle Fournier was selected as the NCEA Equifit Equitation Over Fences September Rider of the Month.
The DSU equestrian team will make its 2019 home debut the weekend of Mar. 1 with home contests against Oklahoma State (Mar. 1) and South Dakota (Mar. 2) .
