Harrington, Del. (Nov.  16, 2018) – The Delaware State equestrian team came up short to SMU 8-6 in a battle of nationally-ranked teams at the State Fairgrounds today.  The Hornets, ranked eighth in the latest Farnam NCEA Top 10 poll, were 4-3 winners in the Hunter Seat competition, but fell 5-2 in the Western rides.

Delaware State edged SMU 2-1 on the Flat, with Zoe Kirsch and Sydney Wicklund posting wins. The teams battled to a 2-2 tie in Fences. Gabrielle Fournier and Eva Epstein were DSU’s winners in Fences.

In the Western competition, SMU won  3-1 in Reigning and 2-1 in Horsemanship.

Shelbe Jarrett collected DSU’s lone point in Reining, while Kelsey McArthur was a winner in Horsemanship for the Hornets.
