Brookings, S.D. (Feb. 10, 2018) --- The Delaware State equestrian team put on its most impressive performance of the season, posting a 12-3 victory over North Dakota State in Brookings, S.D. on Friday.
The Hornets pitched a shutout in the Western rides, winning 8-0, and won the English competition 4-3.
In addition, DSU took home all four Most Outstanding Performer awards in the contest.
Hornet freshman Kelsey McArthur (Ellicot City, Md.) was MOP in Horsemanship with a winning score of 74 aboard “Ruby.”
Delaware State’s Cheyenne Adams (sr.; Wapato, Wash.) was MOP in Reining, topping all riders with a score of 70.5 on “Bunny.”
In the English rides, Hornet sophomore Molly Gara (Chicago, Ill.) was Most Outstanding Performer on the Flat, riding “Trooper” to a near perfect 91 to top all competitors.
DSU’s Hayley Anderson (sr.; New Boston, N.H.) was the star of all performers in Fences, posting a score of 85 on “Duke.”
Also in the Western competition, Delaware State’s Shelbe Jarrett (so.; New Alexandria, Pa.), Monica Ellis (sr.; Collegeville, Pa.) and Angelina Watts (jr.; Stevensville, Md.) had winning rides in Reining, while Elizabeth Lynch (so.; Martinsville, W.V.), Samantha Elliott (jr.; Sparta, N.J.) and Blayne Bell (so.; Shelton, Wash.) collected points for the Hornets in Horsemanship.
In the English rides, DSU’s Zoe Kirsch (fr.; Pittstown, N.J.) was also a winner on the Flat and Sydney Wicklund (fr.; Boscawen, N.H.) picked up a winning point in Fences.
