Dover, Del. (Oct. 28, 2017) --- Delaware State University hosted the 2017 Men’s & Women’s Cross-Country Championships this weekend. The Lady Hornets took to the field first, and showed more flashes of the improvements they have made throughout the season.

Katarzyna Rosikon (Jr. Myslowice, Poland) represented the host team well with her fifth straight top-20 performance of the season. Rosikon had a personal best time, crossing the finish line in 19-minutes-22.01 seconds. She shaved almost two minutes off her previous best time.

Lananda Correia (Fr. Gaithersburg, MD), Janae Pitt (Fr. Lansdowne, PA), and Sylvia Okafor (So. Woodbridge, VA) were also standout performers for the Lady Hornets.

Delaware State finished in eighth place with a score of 187 points. They finished with a total time of 1:46:14.

Their performance this year highlighted the improvements they have made in just 12 months’ time. Last year they finished 11th in the MEAC Cross Country Championship with a score of 299 points. Their total time was almost nine minutes slower as they clocked in with a total time of 1:53:13.

This was the last race of the cross-country season; the Lady Hornets will now focus their attention on the upcoming indoor track season.
