Chesapeake, Va. (Mar. 23, 2019) --- Delaware State knocked off two opponents today to remain alive in the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Bowling Tournament. The third-seeded Hornets will face No. 1 seed Maryland-Eastern Shore in an elimination contest on Sunday starting at 7:30 a.m. The winner will face No. 2 seed and defending tournament champ North Carolina A&T for the 2019 title.
Delaware State began the day with an elimination round victory over No. 4 seed Alabama Birmingham, by taking the first two games of the Mega Match. The Hornets opened with a 905-851 win in the traditional team game – in which Alexis Neuer bowled a 224. The Hornets then put away the Blazers 955-909 in the Baker pinfall format to advance to the afternoon match.
The Hornets ended their day with a 2-1 elimination round victory over No. 5 Monmouth, taking the traditional team round 863-849 after a rally in the 10th frame and winning the best-of-seven round 4-1 to be one of the last three teams standing in the tourney.
Neuer has the third and fifth best single-game scores among all tournament bowlers and is tops in total pinfall at 811 in traditional matches (202.8 avg.).

Delaware State is seeking its fourth MEAC bowling championships. The Hornets won back-to-back titles in 2009 & 10, and captured its last crown in 2016.
