Egg Harbor Twp., N.J. (Mar. 2, 2019) ---Delaware State has moved up three spots to eighth place after day two of the Monmouth University Hawk Flight.
The Hornets have a two-day total pinfall of 9,292 after winning four of five traditional matches today. DSU was 11th after Friday’s opening day Baker competition.
The Hornets rolled a combined 1,017 in their fourth traditional match of the day, fifth-best among the 18 teams in the field.
Individually, DSU’s Alexis Neuer (jr.) is seventh among more than 120 competitors with a five-game total pinfall of 1,025 (205.0 avg.). Neuer topped the 200 mark in four games, including a high of 223 in the fourth game.
Hornet sophomore Melissa Ortega is ninth in the individual standings at 1,008 total pinfall (201.6 avg.). She scored 200-or-better in three matches, highlighted by total of 222 in the opening match.
Vanderbilt, ranked second in the latest Top 25 poll, is the clubhouse leader after two days with 10,006 total pins.
Delaware State, ranked 12th in the latest national poll, is among 10 Top 25 teams are competing in the tournament. The tournament concludes on Sunday.
