Dover, Del. (Feb. 21, 2019) --- The Delaware State bowling team will look to secure a berth in the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship Tournament this weekend.

The 11 MEAC teams, including new associate members Monmouth and the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) will gather in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 23-24) for the second conference meet of the 2018-19 season.

The results of the meet, coupled with those from the first round-up of the season last November, will determine the six schools that will compete in the 2019 MEAC Championship Tournament.

The Hornets posted a 7-2 record to tie for third place in the first conference meet.

The 2019 MEAC Tournament is set for March 22-24 in Virginia Beach, Va.

Delaware State is ranked 13th in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 poll. Hornet freshman Stefanny Toala is the reigning MEAC Bowler-of-the-Week. Toala averaged 211.2 in five traditional games, including a MEAC single-game high of 279, to lead DSU to the James Brown Invitational Championship in Towson, Md., last weekend. She also has the second-best single-game mark at 278 this season.

Alexis Neuer, the 2018-19 MEAC Preseason Bowler of the Year, leads the Hornets with a 192.8 average. Neuer is a two-time MEAC Bowler-of-the-Week this season.
