Limerick, Pa. (Jan. 18, 2019) --- The nationally-ranked Delaware State bowling team bounced back from a loss in its opening match to win its last four on Day 1 of the highly-competitive Kutztown Invitational today. The Hornets are fourth in the 28-team field after the opening round of competition, which continues on Saturday and Sunday.
Delaware State, ranked 13th in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association monthly poll, began the day with a Baker loss to No. 20 Alabama Birmingham (917-880), a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference bowling member.
The Hornets bounced back to defeat Wilmington (1110-982) and Howard (1049-804) before finishing the day with victories over No. 4 Arkansas State (1058-1006) and No. 6 Tulane (998-937).
Twenty of the nation’s top 25 teams are competing in the weekend invitational.
Fairleigh Dickinson is in first place in the team standings after Day 1, followed by Stephen F. Austin. Despite its loss to Delaware State, Arkansas State is third place, just ahead of the Hornets.
