Orlando, Fla. (Feb. 8, 2019) --- Victories over two nationally-ranked teams highlighted Delaware State’s performance on the opening day of the Sunshine State Winter Classic, hosted by Stephen F. Austin and Sacred Heart today. The 14-team tournament features 11 nationally-ranked squads.

The Hornets won three and lost two in today’s opening competition.

Delaware State, ranked 12th in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 poll, posted Baker wins over No. 9 Tulane and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference associate member Monmouth, ranked 22nd in the poll.

The Hornets also defeated unranked Prairie View, while suffering losses to No. 7 Stephen F. Austin and No. 15 Lincoln Memorial.

The Sunshine Classic continues with each team competing in five traditional matches on Saturday.
