The Game
Delaware State (3-15; 1-6 MEAC) welcomes Savannah State to Memorial Hall to begin a two-game homestand. The Lady Hornets are looking to snap a three-game losing streak, DSU is coming off a 78-62 loss to Howard on Jan. 26. DSU led 19-16 after the first quarter, but was outscored by five in the second quarter to trail 33-31 at the half. Howard won the second half 45-31. NaJai Pollard was the Lady Hornets’ high scorer with 23 points on

seven-for-12 shooting from the field and nine-of-11 at the free throw line. Lanayjha Ashe added 17 points and a team-high five assists in the Howard contest. Pollard is tops in the MEAC and seventh among all NCAA Div. I players in scoring at 22.4 points per game. She has 1,752 points in her Lady Hornet career to rank fourth on the team’s all-time list. Pollard needs 11 points to pass Tierra Hawkins (1,762) for third place .Shervon Hunter is the Lady Hornets’ career leader with 1,846 points.  

  

Savannah State (4-11; 2-4 MEAC) also brings a three-game losing streak into the contest. The Lady Tigers are looking to bounced back from a 71-67 home loss to North Carolina Central last Monday. SSU’s Myasia Jones had a team-high 19 points. Jones in tops on the team and seventh in the MEAC in scoring at 16.1 points per game.  

 

The Series (DSU leads 6-4)
This is the only scheduled contest between the teams this season. Delaware State won the lone 2017-18 meeting, posting a season-high point total in a 93-74 victory.  NaJai Pollard led the way 25 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and three steals in the contest. Lanayjha Ashe contributed 15 points and eight rebounds to the Lady Hornets’ 2017-18 win over Savannah State.
