Dover, Del. (Jan. 8) – The Delaware State Lady Hornets fell to the North Carolina A&T Aggies 66-48. Delaware State drops to 2-14 overall; 1-2 in the MEAC. The Aggies improve to 6-7 overall; 1-0 in the MEAC.
Delaware State jumped out to a 7-1 lead early in the game, Ryan Jones and Alycea Sharpe each hit a three-pointer during the run. After NCAT ended the run with a pair of free throws, the Lady Hornets responded with another flurry. DSU ripped off seven unanswered points, capped off by a three from Genell Addison.
North Carolina A&T responded by ending the quarter on a 13-3 run. The Aggies did most of their work from behind the arc hitting three shots from deep, including a triple to give them a 16-15 lead heading into the second quarter.
The Aggies outscored the Lady Hornets 35-19 in the second and third quarters.
North Carolina A&T led by as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter.
Delaware State shot 13-of-57 (22.2%) on field goal attempts, including 4-of-12 (33.3%) on three-point attempts.
NaJai Pollard and Lanayjha Ashe combined for 25 points. Arion Jackson led the team with nine rebounds.
North Carolina A&T made 23-of-63 (36.5%) from the field and converted on 7-17 (41.2%) three-pointers.
Kala Green led three Aggies in double-figures with 16 points.
