Dover, Del. (Dec.18, 2017) --- The Lady Hornets fell to the LaSalle Explorers 71-48 in tonight’s matchup at Memorial Hall. Delaware State falls to 1-8 on the season, while LaSalle improves to 5-6. The Lady Hornets held a small lead at the beginning of the game and took a 14-12 lead into the second quarter. Alycea Sharpe led the team in the first stanza of the game, scoring six points. Sharpe finished the game with eight points and five rebounds.

The Explorers outscored the Lady Hornets 25-8 in the second quarter. LaSalle scored 12 points in the paint during the quarter, and led 37-22 going into halftime.

Delaware State went on a 10-3 run after the halftime break. Lanayjha Ashe scored eight of the ten points during the including a four-point play, with 5:39 left in the quarter. Her outburst during the run cut the deficit to just five points.

That would be as close as the Lady Hornets would get, LaSalle recovered and took a 14-point lead into the final quarter.

The Explorers outscored Delaware State 17-8 in the fourth quarter.  LaSalle led by as much as 27 points in the fourth quarter.

DSU shot 15-of-46 (32.6%) from the field, including 3-of-13 (23.1%) three-point field goals.

LaSalle made 20-of-41 (48.8%) field goals, and converted 6-of-13 (46.2%) from beyond the arc.

LaSalle’s Adreana Miller led four Explorers in double digits with 17 points.

Delaware State’s Lanayjha Ashe led the team with 17 points (11 in the third quarter) and grabbed seven rebounds. Ryan Jones also scored in double digits, she finished with 10 points and also recorded three steals and three assists.
