Dover. Del (Nov. 16) --- The Delaware State Lady Hornets defeated the Georgian Court Lions 69-48 at Memorial hall on Saturday night. Reserve forward Melissa Sam led the team with 16 points, 8 rebounds and one steal in just 19 minutes of action. DSU has now won their last three contest and improve to 3-1 so far this season.

The Lady Hornets started the contest with a 9-4 run, that started with a Sharajah Collins three and was capped off by a Miajah Bullock layup with 7:33 left the first quarter. Delaware State led 16-9 after the first ten minutes of play.

DSU trailed only once at 2-0 and led the rest of the game.

The Lady Hornets lead ballooned up to 14 points after Lanayjha Ashe converted on a four-point play with 6:08 left in the second quarter. Ashe buried another three-pointer with 58 seconds left in the half to give DSU an even larger lead at 35-18.

Ashe finished the game tied with a team high 16 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one assist.

Delaware State led by as many as 19 points in the third quarter, after Lyric Turner drained a three-pointer with 3:44 remaining. However, Georgian Court went on an 11-4 run towards the end of the third quarter, to cut the Hornet lead to just twelve at 47-35.

The Lady Hornets put the game out of reach, outscoring the Lions 22-13 in the fourth quarter.

Delaware State shot 25-of-71 (35.2%) from the field and 6-of-26 (23.1%) on three-point attempts.

Sharajah Collins was the third Hornet in double figures with 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Georgian Court made 21-of-55 (38.2) field goal attempts, and just 3-of-19 (15.8%) from beyond-the-arc.
