Dover, Del. (Dec 6th, 2017) --- Delaware State lost to Robert Morris 65-42. The Hornets fall to 1-6 for the season, while the Colonials improve to 5-3.

Robert Morris jumped out to a 15-5 advantage to start the game. They led 22-9 after the first quarter of play.

NaJai Pollard exited the game in the first quarter, and would not return.

The Lady Hornets opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run, capped off by Lanayjha Ashe’s jumper with 5:50 left in the second quarter. Delaware State would outscore Robert Morris 19-12 in the quarter.

Lanayjha Ashe scored 15 first half points, a career high for most points scored in a single half. Ashe finished the night with 20 points, which is also a career high.

Delaware State made just three shots in the third quarter and Robert Morris extended their lead to 11, with the score of 47-36 heading into the final quarter of play.

Robert Morris opened the fourth, with a 9-2 run putting the game out of reach. The Lady Hornets would trail by as many as 25 points.

The Lady Hornets never led in the game.

Megan Smith led the Robert Morris attack, scoring 19 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.

Ryan Jones scored seven points for Delaware State, and also recorded three steals, before leaving the game in the third quarter.

DSU’s Syonah Williams added five points, six rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.

Up next, the Lady Hornets will travel to Newark, Del. to play against the University of Delaware Blue Hens, on Sunday game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
