Dover, Del. (Apr. 22, 2017)  --- Head coach Barbara Burgess and the Delaware State women’s basketball program have announced the signing of four student athletes. Romeira Tucker,  Ryan Jones, A’Nikeyawna Barber, and Arion Jackson will join the Hornets’ program for the 2017-18 season.

A’Nikeyawna Barber
(JUCO) Sophomore
5’10 // Guard // Gainesville, Fla. // Northwest Kansas Community College

  • Helped lead NKCC to the Region 6 Playoffs
  • Averaged 11.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.5 assist, and 1.2 steals per game
  • Scored 10 points or more 16 times last season
    • Including a career high 26 points against Hesson Community College
  • Totaled 339 points, 119 rebounds, 44 assist, and 35 steals in her final season at NKCC
  • Teammate of fellow DSU signee Arion Jackson

(JUCO) Sophomore
6’0 // Forward // Cleveland, OH. // Northwest Kansas Community College

  • Helped lead NKCC to the Region 6 playoffs
  • Averaged 11 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assist per game
  • Scored 10 points or more 18 times last season
    • Posted career highs of 23 points and 12 rebounds against Otero Junior College
  • Totaled 307 points, 198 rebounds, 49 steals, and 33 assist during final season at NKCC
  • Teammate of fellow DSU signee A’Nikeyawna Barber

Arion Jackson, and A’Nikeyawna Barber graduated from Northwest Kansas Community College with the single season all-time wins’ record (28), most wins of any class in program history (49), and the longest win streak in Lady Maverick's history (17).

  • Led team to the 3A state championship game
    • Scored 25 points in the state finals loss
  • Averaged 15.9 points, 5.0 assist, and 2.6 steals per game during senior season

Romeira Tucker

  • Awarded 1st Team All-Region honors
  • Averaged 17.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.6 assist, and 2,2 steals per game
  • Scored 20 points or more 10 times last season
    • Including a career high 30 points against Clinton community college
  • Led team to the Region III Quarterfinals playoff berth, during final season
  • Totaled 658 points, 256 rebounds, 161 assist, and 94 steals in her two-year tenure at NCCC
