Baltimore, MD. (Feb. 3) --- The Delaware State Hornets had various members on the team finish in the top five, at the Eastern Shore Invite over the weekend.

Kiyair Lambert finished in first place, with a recorded time of 8.17 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. It was the fastest time of his career for this event, and qualified him for the IC4A (Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America) also known as the “super-conferences” meet.  Also, his time was the fifth fastest so far this season in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

The senior from Newark, NJ day was not done just yet. Kiyair Lambert got his second top three finish of the day, as he placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 22.87 seconds.  In addition, Lambert along with Kendall Leach, Kavante Dawson, and Gerald Amobi, finished third in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 3-minutes-25.32 seconds.

Kendall Leach placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.73 seconds

Gerald Amobi also finished third in the 800 meters (1:59.37). Elton Quansah placed fifth in the same event (2:05.53).

Edwin Rosembert notched a pair of top three finishes. Rosembert’s placed second (22.50) in the 200 meters, and third in the 60 meters (7.01).

Julius Allen (7.07 seconds) was in the top five as well in the 60 meters, while Kavante Dawson finished seventh (7.19 seconds).

Corey McGhie (4:36.97), Gregory Moore (4:41.80), and Hasan Gill (4:42.71) finished fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively in the mile run.

Julian Brown had a trio of top ten finishes, he placed fifth (9.19) in the 60-meter hurdles, sixth in the 200 meters (23.01 seconds) and eighth in the 400 meters (51.64).

Adam Funkhouser placed in first with a distance of 4.10 meters in the pole vault. Funkhouser’s performance is the fourth best so far in the MEAC.

Robert Duncan placed third in the weight throw (14.18 meters), and fifth in the shot put (11.42 meters).  Duncan is now ranked tenth in the MEAC for the weight throw.

The Hornets will not have another meet, until the MEAC Championships on Feb 15-17 in Landover, Maryland.
