Norfolk, Va. (Sep. 16, 2019) --- Delaware State quarterback Tylik Bethea (fr.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for his performance in the Hornets’ 58-12 victory over Lincoln (Pa.) last Saturday.
Bethea was selected today as the MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week after completing 16-of-28 passes (57.1%) for 181 yards and two touchdowns in the contest. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native threw touchdown passes of 23 and six yards to Kwannah Kollie (jr.), and also connected with Kollie on a 35-yard strike vs. the Lions.
Making his first collegiate start, Bethea led Delaware State to touchdowns on each of the Hornets’ first four possessions in the game.
For the season, he has completed 26-of-46 passes (56.5%) for 318 yards (long 36) and three touchdowns without an interception.
Through three weeks of the 2019 MEAC season, Bethea ranks fourth in the league in passing average (159.0 ypg) and passing efficiency (136.1 rating); fifth in total offense (152.0 ypg) and tied for third in touchdown passes.
The Hornets return to action this Saturday (Sep. 21) against Howard in the annual homecoming contest, which also marks the 2019 MEAC opener for each team. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
