Norfolk, Va. (Nov. 5, 2018) --- Delaware State defensive back Jahad Neibauer (jr.) has been honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for his stellar performance in the Hornets’ 25-6 victory over Savannah State last weekend.
Neibauer and Tye Freeland of Howard share the latest MEAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week award, the conference announced today.
A Harrisburg, Pa., native, Neibauer recorded a sack in the endzone for a safety, an interception and 30-yard return, in addition to five solo tackles to lead the Hornets’ defensive effort last week.
For the season, he is second on the Hornets and 11th in the MEAC in tackles at 6.2 per game (56 total) and is ninth in the league in passes defended with eight (seven pass break-ups and one interception).
Neibauer is the third Hornet to earn MEAC honors this season. Linebacker Brian Cavicante (jr.) was selected as Defensive Player-of-the-Week on Sep. 10 and running back Michael Chris-Ike was Rookie-of-the-Week on Oct. 29.
Delaware State is back in action this Saturday (Nov. 10) at Morgan State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. In Baltimore, Md. The Hornets (2-7; 2-4 MEAC) will be seeking their third straight win.
