Smyrna, Del. (Sep. 27, 2019) --- Delaware State finished first in their Pre-conference Invite on Friday at DSU’s Outreach and Research Center.  DSU had an average time 31-minutes-and 14 seconds (31:14.0) and an overall time of 2-hours-and-36.10 minutes (2:36.10), which was more than 24 minutes faster than the second place team and MEAC foe Coppin State. The Hornets finished with 24 points, while Coppin State (51 points) and Bowie State (56 points) rounded out the top three.

The Hornets had several top ten finishes, highlighted by one of their senior leaders, Hasan Gill who placed in first with a time of 28-minutes-42.7 seconds in the 8k run (28:42.7).  This is the first time Gill has placed first during his collegiate career.  Corey McGhie placed third with a time of 30:07.4 and Jose Infante-Rosales rounded out the top five with a mark of 31:21.5…

Gregory Moore (32:45.5), Komlan Attiogbe (33:07.1) and Dwayne Staats (34:12.5) finished in 7th, 8th and 10th place respectively.

Up next for the Hornets is the Don Cathcart Invitational in Salisbury, Maryland on October 5th the race begins at 9:45 am.
